about

We are so sorry the release of our second album is taking so long (10 years too long). Our engineer Sam Gathman (along with our album) has legitimately disappeared. We hope "This Will Make Amends" will do as its title promises and tide you over until Sam is found and we can finish the album.

This song encompasses the near entirety of the L'elan Vital recording career. The initial tracks were laid down in 2006 in our first ever recording sessions at The University of Denver with grad student Fallon Stillman (for her class project) and those core tracks were carried through three more recording sessions over the next five years with engineer Ryan Pershbacher and finally in sessions with Mark Derryberry. Interestingly, it was always named "This Will Make Amends". Over the past few years, our violinist Sam Gathman has edited and mixed this track up until his disappearance. We've decided to master and release a version close to what we pray will eventually be on our album. We pray Sam pops up somewhere with an instrument in his hand and a smirk on his face. Love you Sam. Please call us!

The album art for this track is from one of our first shows at the Cellar in Boulder, Colorado and represents the time period when this song was penned.

The name "L'elan Vital" was caught by Brandon while reading the closing chapters of "This side of Paradise" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
